SpringFest Ballarat – Market Sunday

Visit Ballarat’s famous annual Springtime event. There’s something for the whole family!

If you enjoy your retail therapy with a side of fresh air and picturesque surroundings, SpringFest Ballarat – Market Sunday is well worth a visit.  Proudly presented by Optus – SpringFest Ballarat is a project of the Rotary Club of Ballarat and a must-do for the whole family.  The annual market spans the entire six kilometres of the Lake Wendouree foreshore and features over 530 market stalls, serving up a wide range of food, art and craft, music, clothing, jewellery, plants and flowers, performers, car displays, events and activities for all ages and interests.

Highlights at this year’s SpringFest Ballarat will include the Peter Stevens MG Show-n-Glow/Vintage Car Display, PETstock Pet Corner, Grampians Central West Waste & Resource Recovery, Spring Garden, RACV Goldfields Resort Children’s Wunderfest, and the Strong Man and Woman Battle of Ballarat #3.

Did you know? Single use plastic bags will no longer be used at SpringFest Ballarat, please bring along your recycle bags to take home your goodies!!  SpringFest Ballarat is helping contribute to a more eco friendly Earth.


AREA B – SPORTZ ZONE  Ready, Set, Go…. Sample a cross section of sports, and introduce your kids to new activities. Learn how to develop a fitness regime to get fit and stay fit. Visit the Western Bulldogs team and try out their Inflatable Roadshow.

AREA B – DRAGON BOAT COME-N-TRY   Have you always wanted to try Dragon Boating?  Now is your chance – “Come and Try” free sessions will be held at SpringFest – Located at the Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club.  Join in the fun on the water, sessions will be held at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

An experienced crew will take you out to enjoy the fun of Dragon Boating with 20 paddlers, on beautiful Lake Wendouree.  Please book on the day at the boatshed.  All welcome – No experience necessary.  The minimum age for paddlers is 12 years – Safety training, paddle and safety vest are supplied.

AREA D – TIM’S TOASTIES AND FOOD STOP  Here is your chance to try one of MasterChef Australia Semi-Finalist, Tim Bone’s Toasties.  Come and meet our 2019 SpringFest Ballarat Ambassador Tim Bone.  Its a great opportunity to ask Tim about his time on MasterChef and try one of his delicious toasties.

AREA G – DEFENCE FORCE RECRUITING & EMERGENCY SERVICES DISPLAY   Providing information on the wide range of careers and job opportunities available in the Australian Defence Force. There are over 200 different job roles on offer. Come see what a Career in the Australian Defence Force can mean to you, Along with a number of Emergency Service vehicles on display.

AREA K – PETSTOCK – PET CORNER Join in the family fun at Petstock Corner.  Visit the Puppy School and Dog Grooming displays and have a chat to the awesome local rescue groups. There will be lots of giveaways and activities for the kids.

AREA M – TASTING TEMPTATIONS  Tasting Temptations becomes more popular year after year. Savour the great selection of culinary delights, with a wide variety of beers and wines.

AREA O – GRAMPIANS CENTRAL WEST WASTE & RESOURCE RECOVERY – SPRING GARDEN  New in 2019, Captain compost will be on site to talk all things composting, getting out in the garden, learning about fresh fruit and veg and getting your hands dirty in the soil along with the fun activities from the Little Green Wagon –  getting you ready for you to enjoy the garden in Spring!  Compost, Recycling and Sustainability will be the theme in this area!

AREA Q – RACV GOLDFIELDS RESORT CHILDREN’S WUNDERFEST  Wunderfest is set to be a creative hub of entertainment and fun for the whole family.  Bring the kids along to enjoy the fun-filled activities.   Activities in the area include, Pony Rides, Jumping Castles, Paper Planes, Pot Plant Making, Wooden Crafts, Face Painting, Bead it Bar, GymbaROO and so much more.

AREA R – STRONG MAN & WOMAN – BATTLE OF BALLARAT #3   The Battle of Ballarat is a mixed pair strongman/strong-woman combination. 75 of Victoria’s best competitors have signed up to pull a Vintage Tram, Carry a Yoke, Toss a Sandbag and be ready for the popular Mystery Event.  Teams will be battling it out with big smiles, belly laughs and most importantly having a blast.  

AREA S – PETER STEVENS MG – SHOW-N-GLOW – VINTAGE CAR DISPLAY   Cars and More Cars! Car enthusiast of all ages will love the restored and treasured automotive gems from yesteryear, some over 100 years old. This year the Ballarat Rod Run will conclude at SpringFest Ballarat by displaying over 100 Hot Rods.  All vehicles will join together to celebrate the end of SpringFest in a GRAND PARADE around Lake Wendouree at 1pm – a sight not to be missed.



TRAFFIC CHANGES…. Please be aware that traffic around Lake Wendouree will only be one way, in a clockwise direction during Market Sunday.  The inside lane of Lake Wendouree is completely closed to parking and traffic during the event.
